Chapter 2
The 5 Basic Forms
Every 3-letter root in the Quran follows these five fundamental transformations.

اُكْتُبْ
"Write!"
|
An instruction or order given directly to someone. |

اِسْم فَاعِل
Ism Fail

فَاعِل
One who does

كَاتِب
"Writer"

The person or entity performing the action. |

اِسْم مَفْعُول
Ism Mafool
|
مَفْعُول
Receiver
|
مَكْتُوب
"Written"

The person or entity the action is performed upon. |

Past Forms
مَاضِيخَلَقَ الْإِنْسَانَ (96:2)
He created man
മനുഷ്യനെ അവൻ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു
نَصَرَكَ اللَّهُ (48:3)
Allah helped you
അല്ലാഹു നിന്നെ സഹായിച്ചു
قَالَ لَهُ صَاحِبُهُ (18:37)
His companion said to him
അവന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരൻ അവനോട് പറഞ്ഞു
آمَنَ الرَّسُولُ (2:285)
The Messenger believed
പ്രവാചകൻ വിശ്വസിച്ചു
كَتَبَ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ الرَّحْمَةَ (6:54)
He prescribed mercy
അവൻ തന്റെ മേൽ കാരുണ്യം രേഖപ്പെടുത്തി
Present Forms
مُضَارِعيَعْلَمُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ (3:29)
He knows what is in the heavens
ആകാശങ്ങളിലുള്ളത് അവൻ അറിയുന്നു
يَنْصُرُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ (30:5)
He helps whom He wills
താൻ ഉദ്ദേശിക്കുന്നവരെ അവൻ സഹായിക്കുന്നു
يَقُولُ الْإِنْسَانُ (75:10)
Man will say
മനുഷ്യൻ പറയും
يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ (2:195)
He loves the doers of good
നന്മ ചെയ്യുന്നവരെ അവൻ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നു
يَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَاءُ (2:213)
He guides whom He wills
താൻ ഉദ്ദേശിക്കുന്നവരെ അവൻ സന്മാർഗത്തിലാക്കുന്നു
Command Forms
أَمْراقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ (96:1)
Read in the name of your Lord
നിന്റെ രക്ഷിതാവിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ വായിക്കുക
قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ (112:1)
Say, He is Allah, One
പറയുക: അവൻ അല്ലാഹു ഏകനാകുന്നു
اُعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ (2:21)
Worship Allah
അല്ലാഹുവെ ആരാധിക്കുക
أَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ (2:43)
Establish prayer
നമസ്കാരം നിലനിർത്തുക
آتُوا الزَّكَاةَ (2:43)
Give zakah
സകാത്ത് നൽകുക
Active Participle
اِسْم فَاعِلأَنَا خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا (38:71)
I am a creator of a human
ഞാൻ ഒരു മനുഷ്യനെ സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്നവനാണ്
أَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ بِعَالِمٍ (29:10)
Is not Allah most knowing?
എല്ലാം അറിയുന്നവൻ
اللَّهُ غَالِبٌ عَلَى أَمْرِهِ (12:21)
Allah is predominant
അല്ലാഹു തന്റെ കാര്യത്തിൽ വിജയിയാകുന്നു
اللَّهُ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ (2:153)
Allah is with the patient
അല്ലാഹു ക്ഷമിക്കുന്നവരോടൊപ്പമാണ്
التَّائِبُونَ الْعَابِدُونَ (9:112)
The repentant, the worshippers
പശ്ചാത്തപിക്കുന്നവർ, ആരാധിക്കുന്നവർ
Passive Participle
اِسْم مَفْعُولبِالْمَعْرُوفِ (4:19)
In a kind way
നല്ല രീതിയിൽ
مَكْتُوبًا عِنْدَهُمْ (7:157)
Written with them
അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തപ്പെട്ടത്
سُرُرٌ مَرْفُوعَةٌ (88:13)
Raised couches
ഉയർത്തപ്പെട്ട കട്ടിലുകൾ
أَكْوَابٌ مَوْضُوعَةٌ (88:14)
Placed cups
വെക്കപ്പെട്ട കോപ്പകൾ
كَعَصْفٍ مَأْكُولٍ (105:5)
Like eaten straw
ഭക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ട വൈക്കോൽ പോലെ
